چکیده

The hypothesis of randomness is fundamental in statistical machine learning and many areas nonparametric statistics; it says that the observations are assumed to be independent coming from same unknown probability distribution. This close, certain respects, exchangeability, which postulates distribution invariant with respect their permutations. paper reviews known methods testing two hypotheses concentrating on online mode testing, when arrive sequentially. All for these based conformal martingales, defined studied detail. emphasizes conceptual practical aspects states kinds results. Validity results limit a false alarm or frequency alarms various procedures including versions CUSUM Shiryaev-Roberts procedures. Efficiency establish connections between randomness, martingales.

Testing randomness by Matching Pennies

In the game of Matching Pennies, Alice and Bob each hold a penny, and at every tick of the clock they simultaneously display the head or the tail sides of their coins. If they both display the same side, then Alice wins Bob’s penny; if they display different sides, then Bob wins Alice’s penny. To avoid giving the opponent a chance to win, both players seem to have nothing else to do but to rand...

Randomness Testing of Compressed Data

Random Number Generators play a critical role in a number of important applications. In practice, statistical testing is employed to gather evidence that a generator indeed produces numbers that appear to be random. In this paper, we reports on the studies that were conducted on the compressed data using 8 compression algorithms or compressors. The test results suggest that the output of compre...

Testing randomness for cancer risk

There are numerous stochastic models for cancer risk for a given tissue. Many rely on the following two hypotheses. 1. There is a fixed probability that a given cell division will eventually lead to a cancerous cell. 2. Cell divisions are nefarious or not independently of each other. We show that recent data on cancer risk and number of stem divisions is consistent with hypotheses 1 and 2.

Overcoming the Multiple Testing Problem When Testing Randomness

In this paper we propose a new method for overcoming the problem of adjusting for the multiple testing problem in the context of testing random number generators. We suggest it is to be used in conjunction with an existing method. More generally, the method can be useful in other situations where the multiple testing issue is encountered and the tests involved are not independent of each other,...

Randomness of D Sequences via Diehard Testing

This paper presents a comparison of the quality of randomness of D sequences based on diehard tests. Since D sequences can model any random sequence, this comparison is of value beyond this specific class. Introduction Randomness of binary sequences has been studied for a long time [1] and it continues to interest researchers because of the need to distinguish (in applicable situations) between...
